FEEDING YOUR FAMILY IN LOCKDOWN

'What's for dinner/lunch?' 'Can I have a snack?'

If you're getting sick of these questions and desperate for new ideas for meals and snacks to feed your family in lockdown, this hour-long talk is for you. Covering meal planning, meal and snack ideas and the unique challenges we face in lockdown, the talk will be followed by a live Q&A.

FEEDING A YOUNG FAMILY

The focus of this class is how to cater for a family with children of pre-school and primary school age with lots of hints and tips to help make life easier and reduce the time spent in the kitchen.  We will cover issues such as meal planning and multiple meal times; information on the nutritional needs of young children will be provided. This class also offers practical advice for feeding fussy eaters, including ways to conceal disliked foods and strategies to introduce new ones. I will demonstrate several recipes which are designed to provide quick, simple and nutritious meals which appeal to children’s palettes.  Options to make the meals more ‘grown-up friendly’ will also be provided as well as suggestions for snacks and breakfast. The class involves me demonstrating the recipes; you get to sit back and relax while I cook, then enjoy the food!

MEAT-FREE FAMILY MEALS

Cookery class focusing on reducing your family's meat intake and advice on maintaining a healthy, balanced diet in the process.

Are you trying to reduce your meat consumption but worried about the impact this might have on your family's health? This class provides you with practical advice about the key nutrients found in meat and ways to obtain these from plant and wholefood sources.

I will demonstrate several recipes for meals and snacks which are quick, simple, nutritious and appealing to children’s palettes. An informative handout will be provided to take away as well as the recipes.  Options to make the meals more ‘grown-up friendly’ will also be provided as well as suggestions for snacks and breakfast. The class involves me demonstrating the recipes; you get to sit back and relax while I cook, then enjoy the food! Common issues facing young families will also be discussed, these include fussy eating, cooking for multiple mealtimes and meal planning.

ONLINE WEANING CLASS

A 1 hour online class aimed at helping parents prepare for weaning.


Introducing solid food to your baby can be a daunting prospect, so this class gives practical advice on different approaches to take and how to get started. Lots of suggestions about suitable cookbooks and information resources will be given.  Information on the nutritional needs of young children will be provided, along with guidance on the equipment needed for feeding them during their first few years and many hints and tips to help make life easier and reduce the time spent in the kitchen.
